Safari in iOS 7 to Pass Google Search Referrer Data to Web Sites

Search marketers like us will once again be able to see mobile traffic from Safari in Google Analytics as actual search traffic from Google, and not ‘direct’ as had been the case since last September.

This is great news, especially for companies or agencies that have a strong mobile strategy and presence. Consider that 59% of Yelp searches are via mobile, and you can imagine the volume of traffic that would have been obscured as ‘direct traffic’.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t solve the remaining issue of search queries being stripped by Google when users search while being logged into their Google accounts. But at this point we’ll take what we can get from Big G.
